PARTICLE SIMULATIONS OF CERENKOV RADIATORS USING A DIELECTRIC-LINED WAVEGUIDE

Abstract: A stretched one and two halves dimensional relativistic electromagnetic particle code is used to simulate the Cerenkov emission process from a relativistic electron beam when it is passing through the hole of a dielectric-lined waveguide at a speed more than the speed of light in the dielectric. Simulation results show that Cerenkov process is a potential high-power source of short-wavelength radiation.
