Mechanism of Spontaneous Formation of Spiral Wave in Neuronal Network with Unidirectional Coupling

A two-dimensional neuronal network with unidirectional coupling is constructed, and information transmission entropy is introduced to describe the directed information transmission. Hindmarsh-Rose neuron model is used to study mechanism of spontaneous generation of ordered waves such as spiral waves in the network. Numerical simulation shows that the network can appear spontaneously spiral wave, traveling wave, target wave and plane wave with appropriately selected strength of coupling and distance of unidirectional coupling. It is found that generation of various ordered waves is related to intermittently directed information transmission in the network. Entropy resonance occurs as single or multiple spiral waves appear in the network. Intermittently directed information transmission is also observed in the network with noise, inhibitory coupling and repulsive coupling when spiral wave and multiple spiral waves are spontaneously appeared. Self-sustaining long plane waves are observed for the first time. It is due to persistent strong directed information transmission in the network.

Influence of pulse width, laser wavelength and laser intensity on state populations of a NaI molecule driven by a pump-probe pulse was studied via time-dependent wave packet approach.Wave packet moves periodically with roundtrip time 1 000 fs.Wave packet bifurcates in crossing region firstly at delay time 200 fs, which affects state populations.Excitation probability increases and dissociation probability decreases with increasing pulse width.Excitation probability approaches the maximum at resonance pump wavelength 318 nm.Dissociation probability decreases with increasing pump wavelength.As pump intensity increases, excitation probability increases while dissociation probability does not change.Probe wavelength and probe intensity do not affect state populations.Wave packet motion and selective distribution of state populations can be achieved by adjusting laser parameters.It provides bases for realizing light manipulation of molecules experimentally.

A numerical simulation method is presented for calculating two dimensional two-stage light-gas gun impacts to launch flier to hypervelocity.It uses the complex algorithm, concerned with the treatment of multi-materials, multi-interfaces, huge distortions and high density ratios etc. Basing on multi-fluid VOF and PPM methods, we develop the MFPPM2 shock wave physics code to simulate the Sandia hypervelocity impaction experimental confighuration model. Some results from the MFPPM2 are griven and appear to be in good agreement with those of the CTH code in Sandia Laboratory.

It is known that there are sparse weather stations on the Tibetan Plateau,and the lack of real soil temperature data affects the understanding of surface thermodynamic structure over the Plateau.Clear sky TBB data are employed,and the verified clear sky TBB data in 1998 from May to August through variational techniques by real soil temperature can capture the distribution features of mean soil temperature of the Plateau.It turns out to be a kind of important data source to the central and western Plateau,and plays an important role in the Plateau underlying thermodynamic structure study.
