Abstract: Computation of flow electrification in oil pipes is studied. The charge transportation equation in turbulent flows is a convection-dominated convection diffusion reaction equation. An operator-splitting scheme is introduced to solve this equation. In the scheme, the equation is split into a pure convection equation,a pure diffusion equation and a pure reaction equation. They are solved by a characteristics method and a finite difference method, respectively.Numerical examples show that this scheme describes the charge distribution in a pipe.A reliable method for streaming current is obtained.
